Frequently Asked Questions
1. What inspired you to become an author?
I have been an avid reader since I first began to read. Some of my favorites were Nancy Drew, the Baby-sitters Club, and anything I could get my hands on. When I was in sixth grade, we read the Black Cauldron, and I was hooked on fantasy fiction from then on. I loved reading about new worlds to the extent that I decided to write them someday. Someday is now.
2. What inspired the Four Corners series?
I was sitting with my husband chatting about finishing a fantasy series I began writing in college and really launching my writing career. I told him that I really should start with something smaller and stretch my author muscles. While discussing ideas, Four corners was born. It went something like this: “Should I write a book about witches, wolves, or vampires? Hmm, maybe witches. Okay so what powers? Hmm, maybe the elements.” The husband chimed in and asked great prompting questions. It exploded from there.
3. What genre are your books?
The Four Corners series is fantasy fiction or paranormal romance, featuring magic, mystery, relationships, and characters whose choices shape the world around them.
4. Do I need to read the Four Corners books in order?
Yes! The series follows an ongoing story, so reading the books in order will help you understand the characters, their relationships, and the events that connect each novel.
5. How many books are in the Four Corners series?
The series consists of four planned books:
- Shifting Winds
- Purging Flames
- Revealing Currents
- Healing Gardens (coming soon)
6. Where can I purchase your books?
You can find my books on Amazon in Kindle and paperback formats. The available titles are also included in Kindle+ (formerly known as KindleUnlimited).
7. Are your characters based on real people?
There’s a little bit of me in every one of them. But they are an amalgamation of the people I meet, know, and love. As most authors will tell you, the characters tend to become their own personalities as you write and can surprise you with their actions.
8. Which character is your favorite to write?
Ooo, my favorite character to write is the town, Four Corners. I love creating scenes where the town is the focal point and we are immersed in the small town vibe with all its quirks and fun characters.
9. How long does it take you to write a book?
That is a hard one. The lawyerly answer that always applies is “It depends.” Sorry to give you that, but it’s true. Sometimes I sit and can write 3-4 chapters in one session. Other times, it can be like pulling teeth and drag for days! But an approximation is that I write the really rough draft in about 3-4 weeks, edit for a month or more, and then paint the covers in 1-2 weeks, though not always in that order.
10. Will you write more books after Four Corners?
I have plans to continue writing after the Four Corners series. Follow my website and newsletter for news about future stories and upcoming releases.
11. How can I stay updated on new releases?
You can subscribe to my author newsletter for book announcements, release dates, special promotions, and occasional glimpses into my writing process.
12. How can I support you as an independent author?
Thank you for asking! Purchasing my books, leaving an honest review on Amazon or Goodreads, recommending the series to friends, and sharing my posts on social media all help new readers discover my stories. Every bit of support means a great deal.
